Cecil Spencer spent 25 years as a freight logistic manager for Consolidated Freightways. He worked at various locations in the states of Washington and Georgia. He was responsible for the logistics of all import and export freight activity for major companies such as Panasonic Sony and RCA. During his time there, he established policies and procedures that resulted in increased annual profits exceeding $1 million dollars each year of his tenure.
Upon his retirement from Consolidate Freightways, Cecil and his wife started a dry cleaner and shoe repair business in Atlanta, GA in the 90’s. Together, they expanded their operation to include 2 additional stores in Lithonia, Georgia and 1 in Tacoma, Washington. Because of the dedication to providing quality product and superior customer service, they were able to build a client base of well over 10,000.
Cecil attended Prairie View University in Texas, followed by six years in the US Coast Guard. As a member of the U.S. Coast Guard, he oversaw radar operations which included surface, air, and sonar searches. He also worked in the lighthouse in Washington, which included rescue duties.
Cecil’s philanthropic efforts include being a member of the Trustee Board of MLK Baptist church in Seattle, WA. His responsibilities there included managing the finances, securing the purchase of new land, and rezoning the land so that the church a new church could be built. He also participated in many outreach activities with his church community.
