Sylvia Kibibi Rice grew up in the city Detroit. She’s been involved in activism, community service and outreach for the majority of her life. Her fundamental principal belief - that Life is a balance of service and celebration was formed in her younger years as a member of the Alexander Crummell Center. A haven for African American excellence, collective empowerment, cultural pride, pan-African activism, academic development and spiritual wellness. At the early age of 10 she was volunteering each Saturday for the food co-op program which used the principal of cooperative economics to purchase produce directly from farmers at Eastern market and split among its participants. The center was also the home of Broadside Press publishing company. She volunteered at the literature events and was enriched by the Activist Author such as Nikki Giovanni, Haki Matabuti, Aneb House, Sonya Sanchez and many more.
She’s a student alumni and teacher alumni of Aisha Shule for Gifted Children. The school's philosophy was every child’s gift will flourish if the seeds are watered and nourished. She incorporated the 7 principles of Kwanzaa to educate students in Mathematics and Physical Education. She was logistics manager for activities and event hosted by the Healing Support Network; an organization founded in 1987 by Raziya Curtis, to provide nutritional knowledge about the healing power food and living healthier lifestyles. While office manager of Detroit Wholistic Center, she learned more about self-care practices such as massage, reiki, meditation, colon hydro-therapy and benefits of herbs that we can consume in our everyday life.
After relocating to Georgia, she was a mentor for non-profit Sister Space, Inc. This organization paired successful women with young girls 12-17 that needed tools to move past their current negative environmental influences. We focused on life-skills such as emotional intelligence awareness activities, financial management, self-esteem building and conflict resolution.
Sylvia loves to travel all over the world and experience the beautiful cultures in the regions. Her voyages have taken her to Jamaica, Aruba, Curacao, Bahamas, Virgin Island, Belize, Cape Town and Johannesburg South Africa; Ghana; Morocco; Ibiza and Barcelona Spain; Rotterdam and Amsterdam Netherlands; Paris, Vatican City and Venice France; Croatia; Macao; Beijing China; Hong Kong; Thailand; Seoul South Korea; London England; Turkey; and Greece.
Sylvia’s corporate employment started in Information Technology as program analyst and landed in Government contracting program management. This is where her friendship and sisterhood began with Sybil Pepper-Spencer. They have been friends for 20 years and share similar philosophies.
As Vice President of Adamite Kindgom Ministries, she is humbled by the opportunity to service the Georgia community and help elevate the lives of others.
